1. General Overview

 

In Portuguese, adjectives can be either masculine or feminine, singular or plural.
The noun and the adjective must always be in agreement. Adjectives are usually placed after a noun. However, certain adjectives are sometimes placed before a noun and often, the position of an adjective alters the sense of the phrase.
 
um carro novo a new car
uma camisa branca white shirt
um bom professor good teacher
um grande médico great doctor

3. Masculine or Feminine Adjectives

Exception: espanhol > espanhola (Spanish)

 

4. Plural of Adjectives

 

Keep in mind that adjectives can be singular or plural in Portuguese.
