Remarks:

  • You can make your birthday cake with two or three cake layers.
  • If you don't have to time to bake your cake, just buy a cake mix and prepare it according to the instructions on the package.
  • You can replace the homemade icing with a ready-made frosting.
  • Instead of corn starch, you can use custard powder to make the cream filling.
  • Sweetened condensed milk, pineapple and coconut flakes are main ingredients for many Brazilian desserts.
  • You can find sweetened condensed milk in Brazilian supermarkets, in Asian grocery stores or in deli shops.
  • If you can't find sweetened condensed milk, you can use evaporated milk (unsweetened condensed milk) and add sugar (6-8 tablespoons) to taste.
  • If you like peaches, you can use peaches packaged in syrup instead of pineapple.
  • Birthday cake tastes better if prepared one day ahead.
