Docinho de coco (Coconut truffles)

 

Like "brigadeiro", “docinho de coco" or "beijinho de coco” is a typical Brazilian sweet, which is served at every Brazilian birthday party.

Ingredientes: Ingredients:
1 lata de leite condensado 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
1 colher de sopa de manteiga 1 tablespoon of butter
1 gema de ovo (opcional) 1 egg yolk (optional)
1 pacote de coco ralado 1 package of desiccated coconut 
forminhas de papel small paper cases
Modo de fazer: Preparation:

1. Coloque o leite condensado, a manteiga, a gema de ovo e 3-4 colheres de coco ralado numa panela e misture tudo muito bem.

1. Put the condensed milk, butter, egg yolk and 3-4 tablespoons of desiccated coconut in a pan and mix them all together.

2. Leve a mistura pra cozinhar em fogo baixo por aproximadamente 12 minutos, mexendo sempre até a mistura soltar do fundo da panela e ficar com a consistência de creme. 2. Let the mixture cook over low heat for about 12 minutes, stirring it constantly until the mixture loosens from the bottom of the pan and it is thick like cream.
3. Ponha a mistura num prato untado com manteiga e deixe esfriar bem. 3. Put the mixture on a greased plate and allow it to cool down completely.

4. Pegue a massa com uma colher de chá e faça bolinhas. Dica: Passe manteiga na mão antes de fazer as bolinhas. Lave a mão de vez em quando se necessário.

4. Roll 1 teaspoon of mixture into small balls. Tip: Grease your hands with butter before making the small balls. Wash your hands once in a while if necessary.
5. Ponha o resto do coco ralado numa tigela e passe as bolinhas no coco ralado. 5. Put the remaining coconut desiccated in a bowl and roll the small balls in the coconut flakes.
6. Coloque as bolinhas em forminhas de papel e depois num prato para servir. 6. Place balls in small paper patty cases and then on a serving plate.

 

Remark: You can find sweetened condensed milk in Brazilian supermarkets, in Asian grocery stores and in deli shops.
