Goiabada com queijo (Guava marmalade with cheese)

"Goiabada com queijo" is also known in Brazil as "Romeu e Julieta" (Romeo and Juliet) because of the perfect combination of these two ingredients.

Modo de fazer: Preparation:
1. Corte a goiabada e o queijo em fatias grossas. 1. Cut the guava marmalade and the cheese into thick slices.
2. Coloque uma fatia de goiabada sobre uma fatia de queijo. 2. Put a slice of guava marmalade over a slice of cheese.
3. Arrume as fatias num prato e sirva. 3. Arrange the slices on a plate and serve.

Remarks:

  • You can find "goiabada" only in Brazilian supermarkets and grocery stores.

  • Brazilians eat "goiabada" with Brazilian fresh cheese (queijo fresco).

  • Instead of Brazilian fresh cheese, you can use mozzarella cheese.

  • Melted "goiabada" is also delicious with ricotta or cream cheese.

  • Melted "goiabada" is used for cake and Swiss roll filling.

  • Recipe for melted "goiabada": Just melt a piece of "goiabada" with some water under low heat. Whisk it until smooth.
