About
me I have taught people from different backgrounds, ages and nationalities (German, Austrian, Swiss, British, American, Australian, Scot, Canadian, Spanish, French, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Taiwanese, Indonesian, Dutch, Danish, Swedish, Indian, Singaporean, etc.) who needed to learn the Portuguese language for whatever reason. These included managers who were sent to Brazil as expatriates, their families (including children), people who deal with Brazilian companies, students, tourists, etc. Because I could find very little material available for Brazilian Portuguese, I decided some years ago to produce my own - it became a grammar book (Portuguese Grammar), a complete and practical language course (CD-ROM), a basic vocabulary book, a book of verbal idioms and a book of common problems. I speak Portuguese, German, English, Spanish and a little bit Chinese (Mandarin). I know it takes time to learn a foreign language properly and also know how hard it is sometimes, even if you enjoy it. For this reason, I do my best to make my classes fun and my material as easy, clear and simple as possible. In my classes besides using my own material, I also use picture books and interesting newspaper and magazine articles. I love teaching Portuguese to people from different nationalities.
I was born and raised in Mogi-Mirim, a small town located in São Paulo State and 150 km from São Paulo city. I lived in Germany for twelve years and in Hong Kong for eight years. I've been living in Singapore since March 2006. I am married to Hermann, who is German. We have a daughter. Her name is Monika.
I am interested in other cultures and in foreign languages. I love traveling, yoga, cooking and entertaining.
