Interjections

An interjection, also called exclamation, is a word used to express exclamation or an emotional feeling.

PORTUGUESE ENGLISH
Ai, que dor! Ouch, what a pain!
Nossa! Tenho que ir embora. Gosh! I have to leave now.
Ah, antes que eu me esqueça. Ah, before I forget.

Remark:

  • Depending on the intonation, an interjection can express a different feeling.
  • Sometimes it is difficult to translate an interjection to another language, but
in a context you will always understand what is meant.
